The latest Nudes in the News as of March 22, 2017

Do naturists have the right idea raising kids around social nudity?
image A study shows those who spend time naked or partially naked around others like their bodies more, regard themselves more positively and are more satisfied with life. Growing up, Andrea Budzey’s only notion of being naked in a social setting was through hearing about so-called nudist colonies. But after passing the sign for Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park on Highway 404 near East Gwillimbury, Ont. for years, she had...More...

Naked mannequin photographer banned from Facebook
image A Canadian photographer has been banned from Facebook after criticism over her photos of naked women posing behind a mannequin. Julia Busato insists she won’t let the ban stop her, even though she says it’s putting her livelihood at risk. The photos have been shared more than 200,000 times and Julia says women are still asking to join the series. But the images haven’t been welcomed by everyone and...More...

World Naked Bike Ride takes over Melbourne streets
image Cyclists have bared it all in the annual World Naked Bike Ride. Riders in Melbourne were raising awareness for bike safety with the mantra "do you see us now?" Held every March, this year’s ride marks the 10th anniversary. Organisers said the event was launched to remind drivers that cyclists shared the road too. They certainly couldn’t be missed today...More...

What it feels like to ... be a naturist
image I first became aware of naturism when I was about 10 watching Carry on Camping and there were people playing tennis naked. The Carry On team were feeling sick about it and I thought ‘that’s a very strange reaction to a naked body’. I was still shy getting changed in front of other people but I was quite happy to jump naked into the river in the middle of nowhere when we visited a cottage we had in the ...More...

Facebook blocks nude painting by acclaimed artist
image Facebook has blocked an Australian auction house from advertising an acclaimed artist's painting depicting nude figures. Charles Blackman's oil work Women Lovers features two nude women resting on a bed beside a cat. Art broker Mossgreen tried to promote it on Facebook, but the social media network rejected it for "advertising adult products or services". Mossgreen chief executive Paul Summer said the decision was...More...

Bali decides to not cover nude statues for Saudi king’s visit
image Saudi King Salman is visiting Asia, accompanied by a large entourage and plenty of luggage, on a trip designed to shore up his Middle Eastern kingdom’s economic and cultural ties with countries in the region. But the Saudi royal's visit to the Indonesian island of Bali has raised some eyebrows after local authorities decided to not cover up statues of Hindu deities and semi-naked women during ...More...

Window Dressing: Nudist association gets a makeover
image The American Association for Nude Recreation national headquarters is still kind of half-dressed. The national headquarters, which has been located in Kissimmee since 1983, had a grand-reopening of sorts recently, in celebration of its new, enlarged and remodeled offices. It will be new era for the association, which caters to people and families interested in the nudist lifestyle, and for both visitors and employees...More...

US ski team releases naked calendar to raise money ahead of the race season
image The US ski team has stripped off in a bid to raise cash to fund the upcoming expensive race season. The calendar, titled Under the Suit: The Bodies of the Ski Team, features 11 racers, five female and six male (we presume all 12 months are still included), including two-time Olympic champion Ted Ligety. The pictures, some of which have yet to be revealed, are nude action shots featuring a range of sports including mountain biking, climbing and skiing. In a video on the calendar website the team behind the project explain how the...More...

Year in Review: Gordon Kent exposes the world of naked scuba diving
image How can you resist writing about people learning scuba diving without a common piece of equipment - the bathing suit? I was intrigued. The organizers from CottonTail Corner bared all about the attraction of floating underwater in the altogether, and the opportunity to come up with 1,001 synonyms for "nude" was too much fun to resist. Then there was the challenge of taking pictures that demonstrated what was happening while remaining tasteful. Photographer Shaughn Butts did a terrific job of finding an interesting shot that could still run in a family...More...

Meet the two brothers rowing naked across the Atlantic Ocean
image If you’re going to row a boat across the Atlantic Ocean, you should probably do it naked. At least so goes the thinking of John and Kurt Schwartz, who are doing just that - rowing across the Atlantic Ocean, naked. No, hear them out. The two brothers (John is 33 years old, Kurt is 29) figure it will take more than a million oar strokes apiece to complete the voyage. Conditions will be wet, and often cold. You want to reduce friction as much as possible, to cut back on blisters and sores and such. So, naturally, you row au naturel. "It's not atypical," John said. "Certainly...More...

The MCA’s naked tours give you a different view of art ... and of each other
image On a Saturday morning in November, at the start of a weekend of celebrations for the 25th birthday of Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, I was standing on the building’s terrace with one of its board members, Lisa Paulsen. We took in the view of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and talked about the exhibition we’d just seen, of works the museum had collected over its quarter-century life. The odd thing was that we were both naked. We’d just spent an hour-and-a-half with about 30 others, all of them unclothed, viewing an exhibition under the guidance of...More...

Here’s everything we know so far: How much does it cost to camp at Nudefest? Overnight camping from...More...

Nudist hermit Peter O’Neill lived alone in the Wicklow Mountains for over 20 years
image This is the mysterious man who lived alone in the Wicklow mountains for more than 20 years. Peter O’Neill was 71 when he was discovered dead at his remote dwelling in the Glenmalure Hills, where he had spent the past two decades. He’d been dead for several months when he was finally found after a local hotel reported he had not come to collect his post in a while. With no friends or family, little is known about the English-accented man called Peter - or indeed if that was his real name. A new RTE documentary, which airs tonight, explores ...More...
