Η αμερικανική αγορά κατακλύστηκε από δεκάδες πολυτελή, συνήθως βραχύβια, έντυπα κατά την περίοδο 1968-1975, με θέμα την ομαδογαμία, την ανταλλαγή ερωτικών συντρόφων και γενικότερα τη σεξουαλική διαπαιδαγώγηση του αναγνωστικού κοινού.

Ο αριθμός των τίτλων δεν είναι γνωστός μέχρι στιγμής – δεν γνωρίζουμε αν η «Βιβλιοθήκη του Κογκρέσου» έχει πλήρη συλλογή τους- υπολογίζεται σε εκατοντάδες τίτλους και χιλιάδες αντίτυπα, με μέση τιμή πώλησης τα 3,00 δολάρια, με ανάλογη εικονογράφηση (ολοσέλιδες αποκαλυπτικές φωτογραφίες), αγγελίες ανταλλαγής ερωτικών συντρόφων και «ψευδοεπιστημονικά» άρθρα συνεργατών. Τυπωμένα σε βαρύ γυαλιστερό χαρτί, ήρθαν να καλύψουν το κενό των περιοδικών γυμνιστών και να γεμίσουν τις τσέπες των εκδοτών. Τόπος έκδοσης: η νότια Καλιφόρνια (Λος Άντζελες, Σαν Ντιέγκο και οι γύρω πόλεις), το Κλήβελαντ στο Οχάιο, η Νέα Υόρκη και άλλες πόλεις.


Παράλληλα κυκλοφόρησαν εκατοντάδες βιβλία τσέπης, με ή χωρίς αποκαλυπτική εικονογράφηση, τυπωμένα σε κοινό δημοσιογραφικό χαρτί και με τιμή πώλησης κατά μέσο όρο το 1,00 δολάριο. Η ετήσια βιβλιοπαραγωγή την τετραετία 1967-1970 άγγιζε τους 5.000 τίτλους. Οι συγγραφείς, άνδρες και γυναίκες, προσπαθούσαν να εξηγήσουν το φαινόμενο του wife-swapping ή swinging στην αμερικανική κοινωνία που είχε προσλάβει διαστάσεις επιδημίας στα προάστια μεγάλων και μικρών πόλεων. Έτσι, λοιπόν, εμφανίζονται μυθιστορήματα, νουβέλες, προσωπικές μαρτυρίες swingers, οδηγοί για υποψήφιους swingers και άλλα παρόμοια εγχειρίδια, με εντυπωσιακά εξώφυλλα.


Έχουμε εντοπίσει στον βασικό προμηθευτή μας στην Αμερική αρκετά απ’ αυτά τα τεύχη, σε υψηλή τιμή πώλησης (25,00-35,00 δολάρια το τεύχος) πλέον εξόδων αποστολής), τα οποία σκεπτόμαστε να φέρουμε μέχρι το τέλος του 2020, ώστε η «Βιβλιοθήκη Ηδονισμού» να διαθέτει αντιπροσωπευτικό δείγμα εκείνης της περιόδου. Οι επισκέπτες και μελετητές του φαινομένου «ανταλλαγή ερωτικών συντρόφων» θα βρουν αξιόλογα άρθρα για τις διατριβές τους.


Μερικοί τίτλοι είναι χαρακτηριστικοί: «A Study of Group Sex Practices», «Action Mixers», «Doubt and Discovery», «Full Swing», «World of Sex & Love», «Scope», «International Swingers Journal» κ.ο.κ.
