Ireland gets its first nudist beach
image Ireland is known for many things (pubs, rain, shamrocks) but beaches and public nudity aren’t exactly high on that list. However, the Emerald Isle is bringing the two together with its first nudist-friendly beach, which will officially open at Hawk Cliff in Dalkey, south Dublin, this April. Steps leading down to nearby Viko Bathing Place at Hawk Cliff are pictured in the photograph above. While the news will come as a surprise to many who travel here, it turns out naked...More...

Naked Utopia: how England’s first nudists imagined the future
image The naked body is as old as humanity. But nudism as a social form, organised into clubs and societies, only came of age in England in the 1920s. Its practitioners were from a range of backgrounds and included those with interests in "physical culture" (today we would refer to this as body building and beauty contests). Many were interested in natural health, including vegetarian and raw food diets, and new exercise regimes from hiking to yoga. Nudism was particularly...More...

Decades old nude run stirs new controversy
The Bare Buns Fun Run started in 1984 at a convention. Since then it’s become an annual event. KHQ did a story about this annual running event a quarter-century ago. In the time since the Bare Buns, Fun Run has become a worldwide event. With similar races taking place all over the world " from Scandinavia, England, and Italy," said Dave Smith. But the original was born in Loon Lake and takes place on the last Sunday of July. This year’s race is quickly approaching and bringing controversy with it. KHQ received this message on Facebook from a woman who could not believe the run is open to people as young five years old. Dave and Kathy Smith sat on the fun run...More...

The women hope that by all being in the nude, they will encourage a more open and honest conversation about self-confidence and body taboos...More...

image Sia Rodney says she’s always been comfortable naked - so much so that, when she asked her partner if he’d be okay with her becoming a naked cleaner, he wasn’t surprised. The Derby 28-year-old said: "He would definitely say I was a nudist but I would just say I feel very natural naked. I have no problems with getting naked anywhere. "I was very much raised with lots of siblings. We had baths together, ran around naked. It made sense because we’d only be...More...

They say that sun-worshippers will delight in Cruiseabout’s "Privates of the Caribbean" itinerary that will take passengers to some of the world’s "most exotic island destinations", including...More...

image The practice is growing in popularity, as a naked bowling tournament, swimming pool sessions, naked yoga, dining clubs and even an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo gallery, are scheduled in coming months. Figures from the Association des Naturistes de Paris (ANP) suggest that 88,000 people practice naturism in Ile-de-France alone, with events accommodating their lifestyle on the increase. This week saw the third annual "no textile" bowling competition in Paris...More...

Get nude: The eight experiences you can only have naked
image Australians and New Zealanders like to think we’re pretty relaxed. We go with the flow. We’re up for anything. And that largely holds true. That is, until we have to take our clothes off. Maybe it’s a hangover from our British heritage, but we are usually a little uncomfortable about getting naked around strangers - or, even worse, getting naked around family members and friends. Without the benefit of a skinful of alcohol, we’re kind of prudish. Do you really want to let...More...

The annual Skinny-dipping Down a Moonbeam event is on this evening, with people being encouraged to head to their local beach or river for an evening dip in the nude. An east-facing body of water is best for people wanting to bathe in the moonlight, said Free Beaches New Zealand president Wendy Lowe. "The moon rises in the east, just lik...More...

Body positive art exhibit censored for female nudity
image When Kristin Harsma opened "Beauty in Every BODY" at the beginning of February, she wanted to use art to send a positive message about body image. She had pitched the show a year ago to Artspace Jackson Flats, the live/work art building where she lives. But when a fellow resident took issue with the nudity in some of the pieces, Artspace, the nonprofit that owns the building, asked Harsma to alter her show. Harsma says...More...

Yoga class goes naked to seek spiritual enlightenment
image Yoga dates back some 5,000 years, and in all that time, the reason for this practice has stayed the same - the attainment of perfect tranquility and spiritual insight, while meditating. What it’s not about, is contorting into the perfect pose, sharing selfies of your sexy backbend on Instagram - or showing off your cute yoga outfits from LuLuLemon. Maybe that's why everyone at LeVar Carter»s yoga class is naked. "Of course, the ancient...More...

The social media rock star we all want to be friends with IRL, and John Legend’s lady love, took to Instagram recently to show off her salad-making skills while in the nude. Aware of how the Internet is overrun with haters, she wrote: "plz don’t shame me I am a strong proud salad making woman just being natural and trying to live my life." Thanks to some well-placed emoji, the Instagram police...More...

Enjoy your food in the nude at this naked supperclub
image According to this new supperclub, Jamie Oliver had the right idea - how about being a naked diner as well as a naked chef? Dine Naked Bristol is inviting people to enjoy a meal with them - all while completely naked. As you can probably guess, you’ll have to head out to Bristol to get involved (we highly recommend wearing clothes on the train journey) where the events are run by Will Bryson, who also organises...More...

Naked Britain: Fashion photographer to open naturism exhibition

As an exhibition of her work opens in Edinburgh, she talks about how the project changed the way she felt about her body How did you come up with the idea for this project?
